A FREE sampling plugin that allows you to play samples in the Decent Sampler format. From their forum, it looks like this was reported by others over 2 years ago. Sadly, MainStage says the plug-in fails validation! (See report below). 40+ FREE MAINSTAGE 3 Worship Patches Hillsong, Elevation, Bethel Piano Productions 6. Just downloaded the "Piano One" you recommended above. Too bad it's not cheap and will expire in a few weeks. "TruePianos" sounds very nice, and the touch sensitivity setting is nice. Yes, the GUI shows the "Grand Piano 1 SE" instrument just no sound comes out. Yes, bummed I can't get SampleTank to make any sound. What i love about True Pianos is that it feels great to play, and when I hit hard low octaves and then finger some higher chords with alternate s resonates in a very pleasing way that I haven't found from sampled pianos, so for me its just really enjoyable to play and does sit well in a mix, and its only like 50MB to load.īut you gotta use your own ears, piano is a really personal thing. For playing out live, the piano doesn't have to be so nearly perfect like you might imagine, a live gigging piano just needs to sit well in a mix mostly and as long as you like the feel of it, that's all that matters. However I recently picked up the XLN piano on sale and looking forward to using it.įor MS use I don't really reccomend getting a big fancy piano libarary that hogs a lot of disk space and takes a while to load (though SSD's reduce that concern). For me that has been really quick and easy to use and sounds great. It "models" the piano sound and in my ear sounds as good as any piano sound that is built into a real keyoard like a kurzweil, Roland, Korg or Yamaha. The reason I like True Pianos is because it doesn't have to load big samples. Unfortunately its really a personal preference thing more than anything There are some more software pianos that have come out since then. Still you can get some ideas about the wide variety of piano tones out there. This site used to keep an archive of comparison MP3's of many digital pianos, but it hasn't been updated in quite some time. Sometimes you can find decent pianos built into larger packages like perhaps Sampletank3 or some of the pianos that come with Komplete aren't half bad (but not super great either, but better then what comes with MS). But there are many out there, some more awesome then others, but also pricier. My current pianos are TruePianos and XLN's addictive keys grand piano, both of which I like a lot most of the time. There are many 3rd party pianos and they all have their own color to them, you'll just have to try a few.
